Bali Mandira Beach Resort and Spa

My boyfriend Tom and I were desperate to go to Bali – it had everything we wanted, amazing sunshine, beautiful, temples, waterfalls and natural havens, incredible beaches, wildlife, the list is endless. It was the most perfect destination and definitely worth the 17 hour flight (although I was skeptical 10 hours into the flight there!). One thing I cannot stress is that it is SO cheap. We honestly couldn’t believe it. We would go for a 3 course meal with wine and it would come to £40 for the both of us, but the quality was great too. Food was so tasty and authentic everywhere we went, the service was always great, the people are so kind.

Tom and I arrived at the hotel around 8pm having flown from London Heathrow to Jakarta and then Jakarta to Kuta. We were greeted with herbal tea in the stunning reception area and to the sound of a traditional Indonesian musician. I immediately felt exposed to the Indonesian culture despite being in a hotel resort. The grounds were so beautiful and the architecture stayed true to the country we were in. We were taken to our room which was pristine, bed was large and very comfortable, plenty of storage space, lovely spacious bathroom and balcony. We also had complimentary nuts and bananas waiting for us in our room.

Our first morning we went down to breakfast. There was plenty of fruit as well as hot and cold counters. We were taken to a table by the waiter and were then brought fresh coffee or a pot of tea straight to our table. There were also juices at the counters. You could get personalized omelettes and pancakes made for you every morning by the chefs, we had both everyday and they were delicious.

The pool area was lovely, we spent most of our time upstairs by the adults only infinity pool and mostly didn’t have any issues finding sunbeds; there were a couple of mornings that it was full at the upstairs pool, however they would become available as the day went on and we would sit downstairs in the larger, family pool area for the time being. This was just as pleasant but I am a sucker for an infinity pool! The beach was beautiful and right on the hotels doorstep. We sat there every sunset on beanbags and you could buy cold Bintangs (radler for me) from stalls on the beach, it was a perfect setting. I would definitely recommend this.

The bar in the middle of the swimming pool on the lower level was also great, this was in the downstairs pool area which you could swim up to. You could get snacks served here as well. All the cocktails were 10/10, the menu was so extensive and they were presented beautifully. You could hire a driver for the whole day for £30 to take you all over Bali, we did this for 3 days and saw everything we wanted to and so much more.

Its a very short walk to market shops and restaurants in the heart of Kuta. There are restaurants and bars right outside the hotel as well as shops and markets. Fat Bowl right next the hotel was great, as were the pubs and bars opposite. Taxis are very cheap so if you wanted to go into Seminyak you could do easily. In terms of food we ate all over the place. The meal we had at the hotel in Azul Beach Club was great, cocktails were amazing. It is so cheap to eat out so we made the most of it. Would recommend Metis Restaurant in Kuta/Seminyak if you’re looking for a nicer meal or celebrating. We also had a meal at Breeze which was at the Samaya Seminyak Hotel which was incredible. Right on the beach front, you can look out and see and hear the waves as you are eating, the tables are spaced out so you feel relaxed and as though you’re there on your own. Would definitely recommend this for a more romantic occasion.

All in all, I couldn’t recommend this hotel more. Perfect location, the pools and facilities were great, breakfast was to die for, room was faultless and a stunning beach at your doorstep.
